Food Catering Services Built Around Your Event

Food catering should do more than fill plates. It should set the pace of an evening, give people a reason to linger, and leave a room feeling looked after. For more than three decades, Max Ultimate Food has provided full-service food catering across Greater Boston and New England, from twenty-person board dinners to receptions for several thousand guests.

We are a scratch kitchen. Menus are written for the event in front of us rather than pulled from a fixed catalog, and the same team that designs your menu is the team that executes it on site. That continuity is why clients come back year after year.

What Full-Service Food Catering Includes

Catering is often quoted as food alone. In practice, a successful event depends on everything that surrounds the food. A full-service engagement with our team typically covers:

  • Menu design tailored to your guest count, season, dietary needs and budget
  • Culinary production in our licensed commissary kitchen, with on-site finishing so food arrives at its best
  • Professional service staff, including captains, servers, chefs and bartenders
  • Rentals and tabletop coordination, from china and glassware to linen, tenting and lounge furniture
  • Bar service and beverage planning, including non-alcoholic programs
  • Logistics, covering load-in, kitchen setup, timeline management and full breakdown

If you are early in planning and unsure what you need, our event planning team can help you scope the work before you commit to a budget.

Styles of Service

Passed and Stationed Receptions

Best for cocktail-style events where guests mingle. Passed hors d oeuvres keep energy moving through the room, while stations give people a destination and a reason to move between spaces.

Plated Dinners

The most formal option, and the right one for galas, wedding receptions and seated corporate dinners where a program runs alongside the meal. Timing and staffing ratios matter enormously here, and we plan both in advance.

Buffet and Family Style

A warmer, more communal format that suits milestone celebrations, rehearsal dinners and daytime events. Family style in particular gets guests talking across a table rather than only to their neighbors.

Interactive and Chef-Attended Stations

Raw bars, carving stations, pasta and risotto counters, and dessert finishes prepared in front of guests. These add theater to a reception and work especially well in venues with open floor plans.

Dietary Needs Are Planned, Not Improvised

Nearly every event we cater includes guests with dietary restrictions. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free, kosher-style and allergen-conscious menus are built into the plan from the start rather than handled as an afterthought at the door. Our kitchen team follows ServSafe food safety standards, and captains carry an allergen map of the room so servers know exactly what is going where.

Venues We Know Well

We are an approved or preferred caterer at dozens of properties across Boston, Cambridge, the North and South Shores and Cape Cod, including museums, historic estates, waterfront spaces and modern corporate venues. Browse our full venue list to see capacities and event types. We also cater regularly in private homes, corporate offices and tented outdoor sites, so a venue partnership is never a requirement for working with us.

What Clients Tell Us

“We had a very tight turnaround and a room full of guests with different dietary needs. The Max team asked better questions than anyone else we spoke to, and the food came out exactly as promised. Several guests asked who catered it before the entrees were cleared.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book food catering?

For weddings and large galas, six to twelve months is typical, especially for dates between May and October. Corporate events and smaller gatherings often come together in a matter of weeks. If your date is close, call us anyway. We can usually tell you within a day whether we can staff it properly.

Do you have a minimum guest count or spend?

Minimums vary by date, season and service style. Rather than quote a blanket number, we ask about your event and give you an honest read on whether we are the right fit and what a realistic budget looks like.

How is pricing structured?

Proposals are itemized so you can see food, staffing, rentals and service charges separately. That transparency makes it easy to adjust one line without rebuilding the whole plan when a guest count or format changes.

Can you work at a venue you have not catered before?

Yes. We visit the site in advance, confirm kitchen access, power, water and load-in details, and build the production plan around what the space can actually support.

What kinds of events do you cater most often?

Weddings, corporate and nonprofit events, milestone celebrations and private parties. You can read more about our wedding catering and corporate event catering in detail.
