Cambridge Boat Club rents its historic club for receptions, weddings, bar mitzvahs, birthdays and other events. The perfect venue for your special occasion, the building has the wood-beamed charm of a ski chalet overlooking the Charles River.
You enter through the foyer into two large rooms perfect for cocktail receptions, buffets, seated dinners and ceremonies. The rooms can be separated by the glass partition for cozier options or opened for larger groups. The club room is complete with a beautifully mantled fireplace which you can decorate with flowers and twinkle lights. Photographers love the club room balcony for dramatic shots, but keep in mind that the balcony is not part of the rental space.
You will find the romantic, full length veranda overlooking the scenic Charles River and Elliot Bridge. From late May through October the veranda is lined with flower boxes full of flowers; the perfect stage for photographs, receptions and mingling.
We have a large kitchen that caterers love, complete with warming oven, full oven/stove top, commercial refrigerator and freezer, two sinks and plenty of counter space. The kitchen has a side door and drive-up pathway for loading and a concrete deck for grilling or outdoor cooking. You are free to hire the caterer and TIPS-certified bartender of your choice.
Your rental package includes our stock of round and rectangle tables, white folding chairs, one hour for setup and one hour for clean up. You can set these up, decorate to your liking, remove and re-store at the end of your event. The maximum capacity is of the club is 150.
Our experienced club monitor will be present from setup until the last person leaves. His knowledge of the building and equipment are invaluable to the success of your event.
For comfort, we have two generic handicapped-accessible bathrooms on the first floor with additional female/male bathrooms on the second floor. The space is cooled by the shady veranda and breezes off the Charles and heated during colder months. There are coat racks and hooks available.
